Nihat Altınkaya, 1979 yılında Karabük'te doğmuştur. Bir dönem profesyonel olarak voleybol oynayan Nihat Altınkaya, liseyi bitirdikten sonra güvenlik görevlisi olarak çalışmıştır. Oyuncu olmaya karar verdiktan sonra Ekol Drama'da oyunculuk eğitimi almıştır. Yaprak Dökümü dizisi ile oyunculuk kariyerine adım atmış; Yüksek Sosyete, Kara Ekmek, Karadayı, Tozlu Yollar, Unutulmaz, Menekşe ile Halil, Dudaktan Kalbe ve Kurtlar Vadisi Pusu dizilerinde rol almıştır. Star Tv ekranlarında yayınlanan; başrolde Tolga Sarıtaş'ın yer aldığı Söz dizisinin kadrosunda yer almakta ve Erdem Yarbay karakterini canlandırmaktadır.
