Açelya Akkoyun — Biography

Açelya Akkoyun is a stage, film and television actress who also works as a presenter. She is best known for playing Ayşe Akman for four years in Böyle mi Olacaktı, which aired on atv from 1997 to 2003. In recent years she appeared in TRT 1's Mehmed: Fetihler Sultanı in 2024 and, in 2025, as Nilgün in Show TV's Kızılcık Şerbeti.

She graduated from Fenerbahçe High School and from the theatre department of the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University State Conservatory, and for a time played professional volleyball. During her conservatory years she spent six years with the Istanbul City Theatres in plays such as Theope, Mösyö Butterfly, Kırmızı Pabuçlar and Palyaço Prens. In 1989 she appeared in a music video with Zülfü Livaneli and in 1994 in Turkey's first opera video; from the early 1990s she took roles in series such as Son Söz Sevginin, Çakalların İzinde, Suçlu Kim and Mirasyediler, and in 1995 she began presenting with the quiz 4x4, later hosting the Adana Film Festival and the Antalya Film Festival honorary awards.

After Böyle mi Olacaktı she played Suzan in Ekmek Teknesi and returned to screens with Doksanlar; she also appeared in the Dünyanın En Güzel Kokusu films. In interviews in March 2026 she said that acting is confused with fame, and in May 2026 she met students at Anadolu University. She has a daughter from her marriage.
