Açelya Akkoyun — Biography

Açelya Akkoyun was born on 31 December 1972 in Adana. After graduating from Fenerbahçe High School, she completed the Theatre Department at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University State Conservatory, and during her student years she spent six years performing with the Istanbul City Theatres in plays such as "Theope," "Monsieur Butterfly," "Kırmızı Pabuçlar," and "Palyaço Prens."

She became widely known for playing "Ayşe Akman" for four years in the Erler Film production "Böyle mi Olacaktı," which aired on ATV from 1997 to 2003, and went on to appear in numerous other series including "Ekmek Teknesi" and "Doksanlar." In 2024 she joined TRT 1's "Mehmed: Fetihler Sultanı," and in 2025 she appeared as Nilgün in Show TV's "Kızılcık Şerbeti."

In interviews given in the first half of 2026, Akkoyun spoke about being dropped from a series years earlier, calling it one of the hardest periods of her career, and noted that her acting is often overshadowed by her public fame. In May 2026 she met with students at Anadolu University, continuing to stay visible through activities beyond the screen.
