Ahmet Robenson — Biography

Born Peel Harold Robinson in 1889 to a British family, Ahmet Robenson later settled in the late Ottoman Empire, where he worked as a physical education teacher at Galatasaray High School and eventually became a Turkish citizen.

He was one of the founding members of Galatasaray Sports Club and served as its first goalkeeper. Robenson played a pioneering role in introducing sports such as basketball, hockey, and tennis to Turkey, as well as in establishing the country's early scouting movement. Facing opposition from nationalist circles in the late 1920s, he emigrated to the United States, where he died on January 1, 1968.
