Ahmet Sağlam — Biography

Ahmet Sağlam is a German-born Turkish former footballer, born on 9 May 1987 in Bonn to a Turkish immigrant worker family, who played as a defender. He began his football career in the youth academy of Bayer 04 Leverkusen, then, like many Turkish players raised in Europe, decided to try his fortunes in Turkey, joining Beylerbeyi for the 2006-07 season and making his official debut on 5 November 2006 in a Third League match against Kastamonuspor.

After a season with Beylerbeyi, he spent one season each with Eyüpspor and Eskişehirspor, making five Süper Lig appearances for Eskişehirspor during the 2008-09 season. Moving to Göztepe, he won the Second League title and promotion to the First League in his first season with the club, before joining Turgutluspor on loan in the 2011-12 Second League season. He later returned to Germany, playing for VfB Oldenburg, and in the summer of 2019 signed for SV Straelen, where he suffered a tibia shaft fracture soon after arriving; unable to play again for the club, his contract was terminated at the end of the year, ending his playing career there.
