Angelababy started out as a model at fourteen, building a "twin sisters" image with agency mate Janice Man and co-founding a streetwear label called CHOICE. She made her acting debut with a five-minute cameo in Trivial Matters, followed by a supporting part in Short of Love, before taking her first lead role opposite Eddie Peng in the 2011 film Love You You, for which she also sang a duet with JJ Lin on the soundtrack. Her performance in the 2012 romance First Time earned her the Most Anticipated Actress prize at the Chinese Film Media Awards, and she went on to play a martial artist across both instalments of the wuxia film Tai Chi. Her role in Tsui Hark's Young Detective Dee: Rise of the Sea Dragon (2013) won her Most Popular Actress at the Beijing College Student Film Festival. Joining the cast of Keep Running in 2014 made her a household name in China and earned her the "Weibo Goddess" title that year. She made her Hollywood debut in Hitman: Agent 47 and, the same year, appeared in Mojin: The Lost Legend, which became one of the highest-grossing Chinese-language IMAX releases; in 2016 she appeared in Independence Day: Resurgence and was named to Forbes' 30 Under 30 Asia list.
