Arman İnci — Biography
Arman İnci is a German actor of Turkish descent who drew attention in German cinema as a child. In 2000, aged nine, he won the best child actor award at the Cannes Film Festival for the role of Kendal in Eine Hand voll Gras (A Handful of Grass), which made him widely known in Germany.
He first appeared on screen at the age of six in a small television role, helped by the fact that his mother worked as a presenter at the Berlin-based Turkish-German local channel TD1. His real breakthrough was the 2000 role of Kendal; in 2002 he consolidated his name as Juan in Spiel des Schicksals, adapted from a novel by the American author Barbara Wood. In 2003 he played Murat in the two-part production Das Hühnerparadies, followed by Das Monster im Nebel. In the same period he made five more films in a row: Die Eumelwoche, Coole Klamotten, Diamantenjagd, Die Graslöwen and, in 2004, Das Bernsteinamulett.
His grandfather is Kemal İnci, a well-known director in Turkey. TD1, where his mother worked, is described as Germany's first German-Turkish television channel.
