Asena — Biography

Born Onur Çakmak, Asena was born on December 14, 1977, in Istanbul; she studied in the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management at Marmara University, went on to study hotel management at Istanbul Bilgi University, and completed a modeling and etiquette school.

Introduced to the stage in 1995 through Mustafa Topaloğlu, Asena became known as a dancer, choreographer and singer for her modernized interpretation of Turkish oriental dance, also gaining international recognition by performing for former US President Bill Clinton, model Paris Hilton, and guests at a reception at the palace of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom.

Asena has appeared on television competition shows such as Benimle Dans Edermisin, Buzda Dans, Benzemez Kimse Sana, Ben Buradan Atlarım, and Boxun Yıldızları, and in 2026 drew renewed attention after leaving Istanbul behind for a farm life in Yalova.
