Aydın Toscalı — Biography
Aydın Toscalı (born 14 August 1980 in Aydın) is a Turkish former international footballer who played as a centre-back. Standing 1.84 m tall, he earned a single cap for the Turkey national team.
Toscalı began playing as an amateur at Aydınspor, then stepped away from football for a time to work in business after two seasons. He later moved to Aydın Belediyespor before signing his first professional contract with Muğlaspor in 2001. A season later he transferred to Tarsus İdman Yurdu, where his performances drew attention and led to a move to Kayserispor in 2005. At Kayserispor he became a fixture of the starting eleven alongside Samuel Johnson and Marcelo Mendez, was called up to the national team in 2007, and played a part in the club's UEFA Cup campaign and Turkish Cup title. Despite interest from several clubs he extended his contract and served as team captain from the second half of the 2009-10 season.
When Kayserispor appointed Şota as head coach, Toscalı was among the players who departed, moving to MKE Ankaragücü on 3 June 2010; he made 52 appearances there over two seasons and captained the side through difficult periods. On 1 July 2012 he signed a one-year deal with Mersin İdman Yurdu, then returned to Ankaragücü on 3 September 2013 once the club's transfer ban was lifted.
