Aydın Yelken — Biography
Aydın Yelken was born on 3 May 1939 in Istanbul and played as a winger or forward for the Turkish national team, earning nine caps between 1961 and 1965. Over the course of his career he shared the pitch, both for the national side and at club level, with well-known names such as Lefter Küçükandonyadis, Can Bartu, Ogün Altıparmak, Ziya Şengül and Metin Oktay.
After hanging up his boots, Yelken stayed close to Fenerbahçe, later serving the club as member number 2415 on its Board of Directors and its High Advisory Council. He died in Istanbul on 16 August 2022 at the age of 83; following funeral prayers at Çekmeköy Yeşilkayalar Mosque, he was laid to rest at Yenidoğan Cemetery.
