Aykut Yiğit — Biography
Aykut Yiğit was born on 7 October 1959 in Adapazarı, Turkey. Playing as a striker, he had a career that took him through clubs including Altay, Sakaryaspor, Fenerbahçe and Eskişehirspor, though he is best remembered for his time with Sakaryaspor, the club where he started out professionally. His finest individual achievement came in the 1983-84 season, when he finished as top scorer of the Turkish 1.Lig while playing for Sakaryaspor.
After retiring as a player, Yiğit moved into coaching and club management, eventually returning to Sakaryaspor as the team's technical manager. He was killed on 7 September 2002 when the bus carrying the Sakaryaspor squad went off the road near Sivas. In his hometown of Sakarya, a school has since been named in his memory.
