Ayla Çelik — Biography

Ayla Çelik began her music career after graduating from the Istanbul Technical University State Conservatory. She took her first professional steps alongside composer Melih Kibar, spent a long period performing commercial jingles, and wrote the music for the play Antigone, directed by Kenan Işık, for the state theatres. In 2007 she released the joint album İstanbul Türküleri with Belma Şahin, followed in 2008 by her first single, 'Bir Dönebilsem'.

She released her debut solo studio album, Lavanta, in 2010, and became known for writing and composing her own material. In 2012 she won Song of the Year at both the Golden Butterfly Awards and the Turkey Music Awards for 'Türkan', which she wrote for Demet Akalın. Her second album, Ben, followed in 2016 and included 'Bağdat', a duet with Beyazıt Öztürk that reached number one on the Turkish charts. Her third album, Daha Bi' Aşık, was released by Sony Music in 2019. Over her career she has also written and composed songs for artists including İbrahim Tatlıses, Sibel Can, Ebru Gündeş, Demet Akalın, Serdar Ortaç and Özcan Deniz.

She released the single 'Gecenin Köründe' in 2025, and press reports point to a further single early in 2026, though the reported title 'Kırmızı' could not be confirmed in this review.
