Ayla Karaca — Biography
Ayla Karaca (born Atina Miloharakti; 20 May 1933 in Istanbul - 17 March 2021 in İzmir) was a Turkish stage, film and television actress of Greek descent.
She left school after primary education and first appeared on stage in 1944 at the Ses Theatre in the play "Kapan", later working at the Muammer Karaca Theatre. Her screen debut came with Ayşe'nin Duası (1949), and she went on to appear in films mostly made in the early 1950s, among them Lale Devri, Sürgün, Sultan Selim and Hasan the Janissary, Barbaros Hayreddin Paşa (as Countess Julia) and Köroğlu. She was married for a time to Tevhid Bilge.
From the 1990s she worked mainly in television, appearing in Neşeli Günler and Sevda Rüzgârları before playing Eleni in Yabancı Damat, the role that made her known in Greece as well. She died of COVID-19 in İzmir on 17 March 2021, aged 87.
