Ayşe Tekdal — Biography

Ayşe Tekdal, born on 28 October 1999 in Diyarbakır, is a Turkish race walker who competes in the 5,000 m, 10,000 m and 20 km walking events for her hometown club Kayapınar Belediyespor. She first drew national attention with a gold medal at a meet in Sweden in 2019 and went on to become one of Turkey's leading walkers in the years that followed.

In 2021 she won gold at the Balkan Race Walking Championships held in Antalya, becoming the first Turkish athlete to top the podium at that event, and secured the Olympic qualifying standard that carried her to the Tokyo 2020 Games. She returned to the Olympic stage in 2024, representing Turkey at the Paris Games, where she and teammate Mazlum Demir finished 23rd in the marathon mixed relay.
