Bengü — Biography

Bengü Erden (born 2 April 1979 in İzmir) is a Turkish singer and composer who has been one of the leading names in Turkish pop music since her 2000 debut. She first became involved with music as a child through the İzmir State Symphony Orchestra, later starred in a production of the musical "Oliver Twist" in İzmir, placed second in the 1998 Pop Show '98 competition, and spent three years as a backing vocalist for Kenan Doğulu. Produced by Kenan and Ozan Doğulu, her debut album "Hoş Geldin" was released in 2000, and by 2007 her third album, "Taktik," had earned a digital sales certification from MÜ-YAP.

Her 2009 album "İki Melek" sold 125,000 copies, went gold, and topped Turkey's official charts for seven weeks, while the lead single "Aşkım" from her 2011 album "Dört Dörtlük" became Google's most-searched song of the year in Turkey as she was named the country's most-followed artist. Singles such as "Yaralı" (2012) and "Saygımdan" (2013) spent extended runs at number one, and her seventh album, "İkinci Hal" (2014), produced hits including "Sahici" and "Feveran" that made her one of the year's most-played and most-broadcast artists on Turkish television. With eight studio albums and six singles released to date, Bengü has received numerous Kral TV and MÜ-YAP music awards throughout her career.
