Birsen Bekgöz — Biography

Birsen Bekgöz was born on October 18, 1980, in Berlin. A sprint and hurdles athlete, she competed under the colors of Enkaspor and studied at Eastern Mediterranean University in Northern Cyprus.

One of Turkey's leading names in the 200 metres and 400 metres hurdles, Bekgöz won gold in the 400 metres hurdles at the 2004 Cezmi Or Cup and bronze in the 4x400 relay at the 2005 Mediterranean Games, and took gold with the 4x100 relay team and silver with the 4x400 relay team at the Islamic Games. With the national relay teams she also set two Turkish records, clocking 44.71 in the 4x100 metres and 3:29.42 in the 4x400 metres.

After her athletics career, Birsen Bekgöz also moved onto television, competing on the Volunteers team in the 2018 edition of Survivor, hosted by Acun Ilıcalı, and returning to screens on the Survivor All Star roster in 2022.
