Bülent Akın — Biography

Bülent Akın (born 28 August 1978 in Brussels) is a Belgian-born Turkish former footballer who later worked as a coach and club official. He holds both Turkish and Belgian citizenship and played as a midfielder, standing 1.82 m tall.

Over his playing career he turned out for İstanbulspor, Bolton Wanderers in England, Denizlispor, Galatasaray, Gençlerbirliği, Türk Telekomspor and Yeni Malatyaspor, and represented Turkey at under-21 level. Looking back on his Galatasaray years in later interviews, he described Gheorghe Hagi as a competitor who wanted to win even in training and recalled the atmosphere generated by goals at the Ali Sami Yen stadium.

After retiring he moved into coaching. He was appointed manager of the United States-based Malatyaspor USA in 2017, was named as an assistant to Mircea Lucescu in 2018, took charge of Uşakspor in the summer of 2022 and became head coach of Beykozspor in the summer of 2025.
