Bülent Eken — Biography
Bülent Eken was born on October 26, 1923, in Mersin and spent much of his playing career as a defender for Galatasaray, captaining the club in his final seasons. He also played in Italy for Salernitana and Palermo, and represented Turkey at the 1948 London Olympics and the 1954 World Cup.
After retiring as a player, Eken moved into coaching, leading several clubs as well as the Turkish national team, which he managed in 1962, alongside a spell at Galatasaray. The brother of fellow Galatasaray footballers Danyal Vuran and Reha Eken, he died in Istanbul on July 25, 2016.
