Bülent Korkmaz — Biography
Bülent Korkmaz (born 24 November 1968 in Malatya) is a former Turkish international defender remembered as one of Galatasaray's greatest centre-backs, nicknamed "Büyük Kaptan" (Great Captain) and "Cengaver" (Warrior) by fans. A one-club man, he spent all 18 seasons of his career at Galatasaray between 1987 and 2005, making a club-record 594 official appearances as a centre-back.
With Galatasaray he won 22 trophies, including 8 Süper Lig titles and 6 Turkish Cups, captaining the side to the 2000 UEFA Cup and UEFA Super Cup triumphs and becoming the 13th player in history to reach 100 appearances in European club competitions. He also earned 102 caps for the Turkey national team, helping the side finish third at the 2002 World Cup and the 2003 Confederations Cup.
After retiring as a player, Korkmaz moved into coaching and, in the summer of 2026, took charge of Süper Lig side Antalyaspor as head coach.
