Cenk Tosun — Biography

Cenk Tosun is a Turkish international striker, born on 7 June 1991 in Wetzlar, Germany, who also holds German citizenship. He began playing football in Raunheim and turned professional with Eintracht Frankfurt before moving to Gaziantepspor in 2011, where he scored 44 goals in 115 league appearances and won the Spor Toto Cup in 2012.

Tosun joined Beşiktaş in 2014 and won back-to-back Süper Lig titles in 2015-16 and 2016-17, forming part of the Beşiktaş squad that finished the 2017-18 UEFA Champions League group stage unbeaten, a landmark result in Turkish football. On the strength of that form, he moved to Everton in a roughly €22.5 million deal in January 2018. A loan at Crystal Palace in 2020 was cut short by injury, and a 2021 loan back to Beşiktaş brought a Süper Lig and Turkish Cup double, followed by a permanent return in 2022 and another Turkish Cup in 2023-24. After leaving Beşiktaş he signed with rivals Fenerbahçe as a free agent, but was left out of the squad in October 2025 along with İrfan Can Kahveci. He then moved to Kasımpaşa in January 2026 and, most recently, to Fatih Karagümrük SK in the TFF First League in July 2026.

Although born in Germany, where he represented the national youth teams up to under-21 level, Tosun switched allegiance to Turkey and made his senior international debut in 2013. He has since represented Turkey at UEFA Euro 2016 and Euro 2024.
