Ceylan Ertem — Biography
Ceylan Ertem (born 26 December 1980) is a Turkish singer and composer working in an alternative rock and jazz idiom. Her birth date is disputed: Wikidata and the Turkish and English Wikipedia articles give 26 December, while the German and Arabic articles say 1 December; the majority favours 26 December. For her birthplace Wikidata says Adapazarı and the Turkish article says the Erenler district of Sakarya — two records describing the same area. The Turkish article notes her Ubykh ancestry, and she studied at Yıldız Technical University.
Her work has not been confined to records. Her IMDb entry files her under music department, acting and soundtrack, credits her on several Turkish television series released between 2015 and 2021, and lists her appearing as herself in the 2020 film Becoming Duru.
She has remained productive: in September 2025 she recorded "Ahparig" with Hüsnü Arkan, in April 2026 she released "Babamın İstek Şarkıları", an album made for her father, telling Hürriyet that it should not be read purely as her own family story, and in June 2026 she released the duet "Hıçkırık" with Sezen Aksu. In July 2026 her remark that "the point is no longer to make a good song" was widely covered; it is her own stated opinion.
