Clyde Kusatsu — Biography

Hawaii-born actor Clyde Kusatsu, of Japanese descent, came into the world on 13 September 1948 in Honolulu and was educated at ʻIolani School before studying at Northwestern University. Since his screen debut around 1970 he has built one of Hollywood's most extensive character-acting résumés, appearing in more than 300 film and television productions across five decades. His big-screen credits include Black Sunday, Rising Sun, the television movie And the Band Played On, American Pie, In the Line of Fire, The Interpreter, Godzilla, 47 Ronin, Broken Angel and Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, while on television he has appeared in NCIS, Chuck and Hawaii Five-0. Beyond acting he has held leadership posts within SAG-AFTRA: he was voted the inaugural head of its Los Angeles chapter, went on to win four separate terms as its Los-Angeles-based national vice president between 2013 and 2021, and today holds the secretary post at the union's affiliated foundation.
