Coşkun Taş — Biography
Coşkun Hikmet Taş was a Turkish-born forward, born on 23 April 1935 in Aydın, who built most of his playing career in West Germany. After starting out with Aydınspor, he moved to Beşiktaş, where he won back-to-back league titles in 1957 and 1958 alongside teammate Süleyman Seba, before relocating to Cologne, where he became the first Turkish player to appear for 1. FC Köln.
Taş also represented Turkey at the 1954 FIFA World Cup and later turned out for Bonner SC as his playing days wound down. Having settled permanently in Germany and taken German citizenship, he was honored with the Order of Merit of North Rhine-Westphalia. He died in Cologne on 11 November 2024 at the age of 89.
