Cüneyt Tanman — Biography

Mehmet Cüneyt Tanman (born 16 January 1956 in Istanbul) is a Turkish former centre-back who spent nearly his entire playing career at Galatasaray between 1974 and 1991, interrupted only by a loan spell at Giresunspor in 1975-76. He made 533 appearances for the club, largely as team captain, and won the Turkish league title in 1987 and 1988. He earned 17 caps for the Turkey national team and later appeared as a guest player for the opposition in Peter Shilton's testimonial match.

After retiring, Tanman moved into club administration, serving as the executive in charge of Galatasaray's football department under president Özhan Canaydın from 2004 to 2006, a tenure that included the club's 16th league title in the 2005-06 season. He returned to the same role in 2015 as part of Dursun Özbek's winning presidential list, also becoming chairman of the board of Galatasaray Sportif A.Ş., before announcing his resignation from the football department on 24 June 2015.
