Deniz Doğan Mehmet — Biography

Deniz Doğan Mehmet is an English-born goalkeeper who represented Turkey at youth international level up to under-19. Having come through the youth ranks at Arsenal, Charlton Athletic, Manchester United, and West Ham United, he began his senior career with a short spell at Welling United in 2011 before moving to Turkey, where he spent four years as a reserve goalkeeper at Kayserispor.

Mehmet returned to British football in January 2016, joining Scottish side Falkirk for a year, then signed for Port Vale in England in March 2017 before switching to Dundee United later that same year. After a brief stint at Queen of the South from March to July 2019, he rejoined Dundee United and was part of the squad that won the Scottish Championship in the 2019-20 season. He joined Dunfermline Athletic in June 2021, where he kept goal as the club claimed the Scottish League One title in 2022-23, a campaign that earned him a place in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year.
