Devon Odessa — Biography

Devon Odessa is an American actress who made her name in the mid-1990s teen drama My So-Called Life. She was part of the main cast, playing Sharon Cherski, the childhood best friend of the lead character Angela. The series starred Claire Danes, with Jared Leto, Wilson Cruz and Bess Armstrong among the ensemble.

My So-Called Life aired on ABC from August 25, 1994, to January 26, 1995. Set in a fictional suburb near Pittsburgh, it was praised for its realistic treatment of the difficulties of adolescence. The network officially cancelled it in the spring of 1995, but it later grew into a cult classic, and a number of publications count it among the best teen dramas ever made. Odessa's name is still most closely tied to this production.

Born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, Odessa attended Notre Dame High School. Besides acting she has also worked as a producer. Her career has reached beyond American productions: she appeared in the 2008 film Meleğin Sırları.
