Dilaver Satılmış — Biography

Dilaver Satılmış was born on 24 February 1979 in Basel, the son of Turkish immigrant parents, and holds both Swiss and Turkish citizenship. He came up through FC Basel's youth academy before joining Trabzonspor at the age of seventeen in 1996, spending three seasons there; when he failed to live up to expectations, he moved back to Switzerland to sign for FC Luzern.

The left-back went on to play for SR Delémont and FC Wil, helping Wil earn promotion to the Nationalliga A in 2002. During this period he was capped for the Swiss under-21 team, though sources differ on the number of appearances, giving figures between 13 and 15. After a further season with Wil, he returned to Turkey for a year and a half to play for Diyarbakırspor.

He later tried to establish himself in Germany, first with Regionalliga side SV Darmstadt 98 and then, from 2006, with 2. Bundesliga club Wacker Burghausen, where he ended his playing career in 2009.
