Ebru Polat — Biography

Born Filiz Sarıkaya, Ebru Polat came into the world in İzmir in 1983; most sources give her birthday as 30 June, though the record on file lists 1 June. She took ballet lessons as a child and discovered music in her primary-school choir, but chose to study law instead, graduating from Eastern Mediterranean University's law faculty in 2005 and briefly practising as a lawyer.

Leaving law for music, she trained at the Royal Academy in London and launched her recording career with the EP Çetin Ceviz in 2007. On Çok Geç (2008) and the album Kalp Ayazı (2009) she performed songs by Sezen Aksu, Serdar Ortaç and Fettah Can, and included her own composition Delikanlı Kız; her cover of Aksu's Seni Yerler earned her the fan nickname "Seni Yerler Ebru".

She released the album Dinle 2011 in 2011 and 9 Hit in 2015, after which most of her many singles were self-written. During this period she also completed a master's degree in psychology at Üsküdar University.

A frequent presence in the tabloid press, Polat announced in late 2025 that she was returning to practising law, a move that drew wide media coverage.
