Ekrem Ekşioğlu — Biography

Ekrem Ekşioğlu is a Turkish footballer and coach born on January 16, 1978, in Ankara. One of the last stops of his playing career was Kayseri Erciyesspor, where he hung up his boots after the 2013-2014 season. He stayed on at the club the following season as an assistant to head coach Fatih Tekke, and later appeared on Lig TV as a football commentator.

In his coaching career he also worked within Fenerbahçe's youth setup, joining the club's youth ranks in the summer of 2020, leading the U17 team in 2021, and joining Volkan Demirel's coaching staff later that year. He left the club after Demirel moved to Fatih Karagümrük. Ekşioğlu subsequently became an assistant coach at Hatayspor, where he was trapped under rubble during the earthquake that struck the Kahramanmaraş region in February 2023 and was rescued alive.
