Ekrem İmamoğlu — Biography
Ekrem İmamoğlu (born 4 June 1970 in Trabzon) is a Turkish politician. After graduating from the English-medium Business Administration department of İstanbul University, he earned a master's degree in Human Resources and Management at the same university.
He began his working life in the family company, where he later served as chairman of the board. He entered politics in the ranks of the Republican People's Party (CHP) and was elected CHP Beylikdüzü district chairman in 2009.
In the local elections of 30 March 2014 he was elected Mayor of Beylikdüzü. In the local elections of 31 March 2019 he was elected Mayor of the İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality, but the Supreme Electoral Council (YSK) ruled that the election be repeated.
