Engin Fırat — Biography
Engin Fırat (11 June 1970 – 9 March 2026) was a Turkish footballer and manager who spent much of his coaching career abroad. He began playing football at the age of ten.
He served as assistant to Ali Daei with the Iran national team, took charge of Sepahan in 2008 but was dismissed after poor results, and coached Gostaresh Foulad Tabriz in 2011. He also managed the Kenya national team and Lebanese club Nejmeh, and worked as an assistant coach at Fenerbahçe in Turkey. In April 2010 he received an award in Turkey as the best Turkish coach working abroad.
Fırat died of a heart attack in Istanbul on 9 March 2026, while returning to his home country from Beirut.
