Ercan Durmaz — Biography

Ercan Durmaz is an Istanbul-born actor who holds both German and Turkish citizenship and has done most of his work in Germany. He is known from German cinema and television in supporting parts, appearing in productions such as Tatort, 4 Blocks and Head Burst, and he was still working on set in the late 2010s.

In the first phase of his career, in the 1990s, he took roles in German productions: he played police officer Basman in Mad Dogs (Bunte Hunde in German) and Hesekiel in Kai Rabe gegen die Vatikankiller. In the 2000s he appeared in films such as Kanak Attack, A Handful of Grass and The Friend, in which he played the imam's assistant. In 2011 he turned up in the Tatort episode Der Weg ins Paradies as Emir.

Through the 2010s he worked in both cinema and series. The international production İbni Sina: Hekim (The Physician, 2013), the children's film Hexe Lilli and Ihr Auftrag, Pater Castell belong to this period. He kept his place on German television with 4 Blocks, SOKO Köln and Herrgott für Anfänger (as Adnan), and played Dr. Jawad in Head Burst. He also appeared in German series and crime shows such as Ein Fall für Zwei, SOKO Rhein-Main, Mordkommission Istanbul and Nachtschicht.
