Eren Özen — Biography

Eren Özen was born on 7 August 1983 in Bursa and is a Turkish former footballer and football manager who played as a midfielder. He began his football career in the youth ranks of Yalovaspor, and in 2000 signed a professional contract with Gençlerbirliği, joining the club's youth setup and spending three seasons with its reserve team. At the start of the 2002-03 season he moved to OFTAŞ, then Gençlerbirliği's satellite club, later renamed Hacettepe, making his official debut on 8 September 2002 in a Third League match against Mobilkaspor.

Özen spent six seasons at Hacettepe, helping the club climb from the Third League to the First League: he won the Third League title in 2003-04, finished runner-up in the Second League in 2005-06, and won the First League title in 2006-07, earning promotion to the Süper Lig. He went on to play for Malatyaspor in 2008-09 and Gaziantep Büyükşehir Belediyespor in 2009-10, followed later in his career by spells at Alanyaspor, Orduspor, Balıkesirspor, Hatayspor and Tokatspor. After retiring as a player, Özen moved into coaching, continuing his involvement in Turkish football from the technical side.
