Ergün Penbe — Biography
Ergün Penbe was born on 17 May 1972 in Zonguldak. Playing mainly as a left-back and left midfielder, he earned the nickname "Kemik" ("Bone") for his calm presence and his knack for holding a team together, and he became known for a fair-play streak that saw him go two consecutive seasons without picking up a card. He spent the bulk of his professional career at Galatasaray, where he won numerous league and cup titles, including the 2000 UEFA Cup, and wore the number 67 in honor of his hometown Zonguldak's vehicle plate code.
A Turkish international, Penbe was part of the squad that finished third at the 2002 World Cup. After retiring as a player he moved into coaching, taking charge of several clubs — most notably Uşakspor — and he remained active in lower-division management into 2026.
