Esin Afşar — Biography
Esin Afşar (née Sinanoğlu; 1936, Bari, Italy – 14 November 2011, Istanbul) was a Turkish singer, stage actress, writer and translator. She studied at TED Ankara College and at the Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory.
Alongside her stage and music career she engaged with literature and translation. In 1975 she took part in Turkey's national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Canı Sıkılan Adam". She was also known for her jazz renditions of Âşık Veysel's works.
Married to the actor Kerim Afşar, she was the sister of chemist Oktay Sinanoğlu. She appeared in the 2004 film "Neredesin Firuze" (Where's Firuze?) and died in Istanbul on 14 November 2011.
