Fatih Solak — Biography
Fatih Solak was born on July 25, 1980, in Kayseri. Standing 2.13 m tall and weighing 125 kg, the center began his basketball career in the Ülkerspor youth system and, after a loan spell with second-division club Yeşilyurt, went on to play for Ülkerspor, Beşiktaş and Galatasaray.
Known for his height, defensive presence and rebounding, Solak represented Turkey's national team at the 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2009 EuroBasket tournaments and the 2006 FIBA World Championship, earning 75 senior caps and 102 in total across all national squads. Despite trialing with several NBA teams during their summer camps and drawing offers from European clubs, he chose to stay with Galatasaray, the club he had supported since childhood. In November 2011 he signed with Olin Edirne through the end of that season.
After retiring as a player, Solak moved into club management and became general manager of Kayseri Basketbol, a club in the Turkish Women's Basketball Super League.
