Fatih Yılmaz was born on 5 March 1989 in Hanover, Germany. Holding both Turkish and German citizenship, he developed as a midfielder and played professionally in both countries over the course of his career.
His clubs included Eintracht Braunschweig, Denizlispor and Manisaspor in Turkey, Etar 1924 Veliko Tarnovo in Bulgaria, and several German lower-division sides such as SV Wilhelmshaven, Eintracht Nordhorn and FSV Optik Rathenow, before he retired from professional football. His younger brother, Yusuf Yılmaz, also holds a German passport.
