Filiz Taçbaş — Biography

Filiz Taçbaş, born in Istanbul in 1964, is a Turkish film and television actress who first appeared on camera at age 10 in a production by director Bilge Olgaç. After a long hiatus she returned to acting and gained wide recognition through the series Mahallenin Muhtarları, which began airing in 1992, followed by roles in productions such as Arka Sokaklar, Ah Neriman, Bütün Çocuklarım, Koçum Benim, Eve Dönüş and Çukur.

Alongside her acting career, Taçbaş competed professionally in tennis, qualifying for national team trials and earning a national jersey after a strong showing in 2007, and she has also written newspaper columns on the sport. She married tennis coach Cahit Yavuz in 2000, with whom she had a daughter, before the couple divorced in 2011.

Ahead of Turkey's 2023 general election, Taçbaş announced her candidacy for a CHP parliamentary nomination from İzmir. Following her political run, she settled in the Aliağa district of İzmir, where she obtained an agricultural certificate and now grows olives, lemons and other fruit on her own land while continuing to travel to Istanbul film sets for acting work.
