Furkan Korkmaz — Biography

Furkan Korkmaz is a Turkish professional basketball player born on 24 July 1997 in Istanbul's Bakırköy district, known for playing shooting guard and small forward. He rose through Anadolu Efes's youth setup, appearing for feeder club Pertevniyal before a loan spell at Bandırma BK, during which he was named a Basketbol Süper Ligi All-Star three times, won two Turkish Cups and a Presidential Cup, and took the 2016 Slam Dunk Contest title.

Selected 26th overall by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2016 NBA draft, Korkmaz began his NBA career on a two-way deal with G League affiliate Delaware 87ers before spending seven seasons with Philadelphia. His best statistical season came in 2019-20, when he shot over 40 percent from three-point range, and in February 2020 he set a career high of 34 points against the Memphis Grizzlies. After falling out of the rotation in 2023-24, he was traded to the Indiana Pacers in February 2024 and waived the same day.

Korkmaz then returned to Europe, playing for AS Monaco, Bahçeşehir Koleji and Tofaş in turn. In July 2026 he joined Beşiktaş, where he continues his career, and he remains a regular member of the Turkish national team.
