Georges Flamant — Biography
Georges Flamant was born on 3 September 1903 in Tunis. He drew attention for playing a pimp in Jean Renoir's 1931 film La Chienne opposite Janie Marèse, with whom he began a relationship; while the two were on holiday in the south of France, a car crash killed Marèse. Widely vilified in the press over the tragedy, Flamant was shunned by parts of the film community for years afterward.
He later married the well-known actress Viviane Romance and appeared alongside her in several productions. He closed out his film career with a role in François Truffaut's New Wave landmark The 400 Blows (1959).
