Güliz Ayla — Biography

Güliz Ayla was born in Samsun; she spent two years studying theatre and drama at the municipal conservatory and sang as a soloist and chorister in various orchestras before finishing at Samsun Anadolu High School. Joining the band Adelaide in 2006, she won the Rock'n Dark Express rock-music contest, and later gained a place in the Western-music department of the Müjdat Gezen Art Center, singing in two of Gezen's musicals. Her career began with backing-vocal work for names such as Metin Özülkü, Işın Karaca and Extra Orkestra; once she decided to make an album, her path crossed with Sıla Gençoğlu and Efe Bahadır, who both took on producing it, and she signed with Day 1 Entertainment and Sony Music. In 2015 she released the pre-album single Olmazsan Olmaz followed by her eponymous debut album, from which Bahsetmem Lazım climbed to number 5 on Turkey's official chart. She followed with a second album, Parla, in 2017, the single Öyle Sev in 2019, and Hava Civa in 2026, promoted as a freer, unfiltered record. Her songs have been used in productions such as Tatlı İntikam (2016), İlk Öpücük (2017), Ege'nin Hamsisi (2018) and Kardeşlerim (2021), and she is also credited as a composer for screen music. A regular on festival stages and national-day concerts across Turkey, Ayla has spoken openly in interviews about the economics of the music business and about the health condition she has been diagnosed with.
