Gülşah Saraçoğlu — Biography

Gülşah Saraçoğlu is a Turkish fashion designer and television host born on August 17, 1982, in Istanbul. She made a name for herself especially through the stage outfits she designed for well-known figures in the music world, and she has worked in haute couture for many years.

Saraçoğlu completed her education through high school and first entered the fashion industry as an assistant to designer Dilek Hanif. During this period the young designer learned the finer points of both design and workshop production, and within a short time began producing her own work and making a name for herself in the industry. The outfits she created for artists such as Hande Yener and Nükhet Duru were among the early works that brought her wide recognition; pieces such as the dress she designed for Nükhet Duru resembling a chocolate wrapper drew considerable attention in the press.

Saraçoğlu founded her own workshop, called Haute Couture, where she created stage outfits for numerous famous names, most notably Demet Akalın, Deniz Seki, Bülent Ersoy, Ajda Pekkan, and Seda Sayan. A designer recognized not only in Turkey but abroad as well, she had the opportunity to work with international names, creating stage costumes for Nicole Kidman and Elton John. In 2014 she opened a workshop in Dubai, extending her activities beyond Turkey.

In addition to her design work, Saraçoğlu has also appeared on television, hosting the programs Sen Yeter ki İste in 2011 and Söylemezsem Olmaz in 2016. A designer who also drew the attention of the tabloid press with her outspoken style, she became involved in a widely discussed dispute with Deniz Akkaya that was taken to court, and the case was resolved by the court's ruling.
