Gürkan Sermeter — Biography
Gürkan Sermeter is a Swiss footballer of Turkish descent, born on 14 February 1974 in Wädenswil in the canton of Zurich. Standing 1.81 meters tall, he held dual Swiss and Turkish citizenship throughout his career.
Sermeter began his career at Grasshopper Club Zürich, where he won the Swiss championship in 1995. He then spent seven seasons with BSC Young Boys in Bern, becoming a fan favorite before his playing time dropped under coach Gernot Rohr and he moved on to Aarau. He closed out his career at AC Bellinzona from 2008 to 2012, a spell that included a UEFA Cup appearance against Galatasaray in 2008.
Sermeter retired from professional football in 2012 and no longer plays competitively.
