Hasan Vezir — Biography

Hasan Vezir was born on 7 September 1962 in Rize and is a retired Turkish national footballer and football manager. He started in the youth system of his hometown club Çaykur Rizespor and turned professional there before moving to Trabzonspor at the start of the 1983-84 season, winning the league in his first year there and earning a national-team call-up. He spent four seasons at Trabzonspor before returning to Rizespor.

In matchweek seven of the 1988-89 season he moved to Fenerbahçe at coach Todor Veselinović's request, with Rizespor receiving Orhan Kapucu, Önder Çakar, Bilal Şar and İskender Eroğlu in return. He spent seven months at Fenerbahçe, scoring 15 goals in 23 matches as the club won the league while scoring 103 goals that season, and is remembered for scoring three goals in a Turkish Cup match against Galatasaray that Fenerbahçe won 4-3 after trailing 3-0. At season's end, Galatasaray director Ergun Gürsoy arranged an Istanbul-to-Bursa trip that secured his transfer, and the contract was signed in front of journalists at a holiday resort in Fethiye -- one of the most talked-about transfer sagas of its time.

In his first season at Galatasaray he made 29 league appearances with 11 goals and 9 assists, and in 1990-91 he won his second Turkish Cup. He won 15 senior and 4 under-21 caps for Turkey, featuring in squads for the 1986 and 1990 World Cup and Euro 1988 qualifying campaigns. After retiring as a player he went on to work as a football manager.
