Hilmi Ok — Biography

Hilmi Ok (18 January 1932, Istanbul – 15 February 2020, Istanbul) was a Turkish former footballer and football referee. Between 1948 and 1960 he played for Defterdar, Kasımpaşa, Galatasaray and Beylerbeyi before moving into refereeing.

He earned his FIFA badge in 1977, and his most notable assignment came at the 1980 European Football Championship, where he officiated the group match between Czechoslovakia and the Netherlands. He retired from active refereeing that same year, later working as a referee instructor and serving as president of Turkey's Central Referee Committee (MHK).

Hilmi Ok died in Istanbul on 15 February 2020 and was buried at Küplüce Cemetery. He is remembered as one of the veteran figures of Turkish football refereeing.
