İlhan Eker — Biography

Born in 1983 in Balıkesir and standing 1.85 metres tall, İlhan Eker is a former Turkish footballer who played as a centre-back. He began his professional career with his hometown club Balıkesirspor in the 1999–2000 season, and after two seasons there moved in 2001–02 to Gençlerbirliği Asaşspor, later renamed Gençlerbirliği Oftaşspor.

From 2002 to 2008 he was a regular in Gençlerbirliği's main squad and served as the team's captain during that period. On 17 August 2010 he signed a three-year contract with Fenerbahçe, before moving on to Kayserispor in 2011 and to Kasımpaşa at the start of the 2012–13 season.

Later in his career Eker returned to the club that had developed him, Balıkesirspor, re-signing with the team in 2016 and again in 2018, and he continued in subsequent years to speak publicly about the club's future.
