İshak Doğan — Biography

İshak Doğan is a left-back who grew up in Germany and went on to play for several established clubs in the Turkish Süper Lig. His most visible spell came at Trabzonspor, after Kardemir Karabükspor. He also earned caps with Turkey's A2 and senior national teams. He now plays in Germany for TSG Sprockhövel.

Doğan grew up in a village near Hagen in a family with roots in Aksaray. His father, who at first did not want him to play football, became his greatest supporter once he saw the boy's enthusiasm. After a state-level side and Wattenscheid he moved to Arminia Bielefeld, scoring 4 goals in 24 matches for the reserves; he started out as a forward and was moved back to left-back. At the request of Ümit Özat he joined MKE Ankaragücü in 2011 and found minutes hard to come by in his first season. The following season he started away at Fenerbahçe as a centre-back, scored his first goal against Bursaspor and played 22 matches in all. When Ankaragücü were relegated he agreed a three-year deal with Kardemir Karabükspor, where his set pieces drew attention and he scored in the Turkish Cup against Kocaelispor.

In summer 2014 Trabzonspor signed him from Karabükspor for 1.75 million euros plus two players. A disappointing first season saw him left out of the squad until a change of management brought him back. In January 2016 he was loaned to Eskişehirspor. He later wore the shirts of Samsunspor and Giresunspor.
