Jerrika Hinton — Biography
Stage-trained American actress Jerrika Hinton is most widely recognised as Dr. Stephanie Edwards, an intern on ABC's hospital drama Grey's Anatomy. She came into the series with the character in its ninth season, in 2012, and played her until 2017. In the years since, she has kept up a steady television career in series such as Here and Now, Servant and Hunters.
She began on stage. Raised in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas, she graduated with honors in theatre from the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University in 2002, studying directing and playwriting. Her first film was the 2006 independent drama Rain. She then guest-starred in series including Gilmore Girls, Everybody Hates Chris, Ghost Whisperer, Gossip Girl, Lie to Me, Bones and Scandal, and appeared on the big screen in Meleğin Sırları (2008) and The Roommate (2011).
After three seasons as a regular on Grey's Anatomy, she was cast by Shonda Rhimes in March 2016 as the lead of her first comedy pilot, Toast, which was not ordered to series. In 2017 she joined HBO's Here and Now, created by Alan Ball, as Ashley Collins, one of the adopted children of Holly Hunter's character. She played Natalie Gorman in Servant and Millie Morris in Hunters. Alongside acting, she also works as a director.
