Levent Topsakal — Biography

Levent Topsakal was born on 9 June 1966 in Istanbul and took up basketball in 1977. Over the course of his career the 1.90 m point guard played for Eczacıbaşı, İTÜ, Efes Pilsen, Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray, Tofaş SAS, Beşiktaş and Ülker, and earned 85 caps for the Turkish national team, becoming known as one of the era's prolific scorers. Among his most memorable performances was a 78-point outing in a Turkey-Ireland all-star game on 16 April 1983.

He played a key role in Fenerbahçe's first championship in the Turkish Away Basketball League in the 1990-91 season and was named the league's most valuable player that year. In 1995 he won the Turkish Cup with Galatasaray, and in 1997 he reached the Korać Cup final with Tofaş SAS.

After retiring as a player, Topsakal moved into coaching and has since worked with the technical staff of the Turkish men's national basketball team.
