Mehmet Eroğlu — Biography

Mehmet Eroğlu is a Turkish novelist and screenwriter born on 2 October 1948 in İzmir. Following the March 12, 1971 military memorandum, he turned toward literature under the guidance of Attila İlhan, reading writers such as Paul Nizan, Lawrence Durrell, Ilya Ehrenburg, Arthur Koestler, André Malraux, and Pierre Schoendoerffer, and began writing novels that same year. His best-known novel is "Issızlığın Ortasında" ("In the Midst of Solitude").

With a literary career spanning more than five decades, Eroğlu has made a lasting contribution to Turkish fiction. In October 2025, he was honored as a guest of honor at an event held by the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, where he reflected on his fifty-year literary journey.
