Mehmet Nas — Biography

Mehmet Nas (born 20 November 1979 in Kelkit) is a Turkish former footballer. He was born in the Kelkit district of Gümüşhane, played as a midfielder and is listed at 1.68 m.

Over a long career he appeared for clubs including Samsunspor, Sivasspor, Gençlerbirliği, Manisaspor, Elazığspor and Gaziantep Büyükşehir Belediyespor; he joined Sivasspor in May 2010, moved to Gaziantep Büyükşehir Belediyespor in August 2014 and finished his playing days at Sivas Belediyespor. He also played for Turkey's under-21 team. In his later years he was cited among the most experienced players in the Süper Lig and, because of his identification with Sivas, was dubbed "the last Yiğido" by the press.

His son İlhami Sıraçhan Nas also became a footballer and was transferred to Galatasaray in August 2023; Mehmet Nas returned to the headlines at the time with his comments on how that transfer came about.
